Default Against specialized storage

Don't get me wrong, we obviously need more storage. There are countless threads asking for it, but I see a lot of requests for "specialized storage". There are threads for armor storage, dye storage, weapons storage, etc.

There are a lot of different ways to play the game and different players have different interests. For example, I like to collect weapon mods. But I'm not asking for a "weapons mods storage".

What we need is just more storage in general. Yes, being able to categorize what you've got is good, but not to the point of only being able to store specific items. Let each player decide what they want to collect and stop asking for storage for only your own specific interest.

Yea. Dye storage for example, there's what, 12 colors?
They stack. You dont need a seperate tab.

Armor storage I seriously dont get. Your character will only have 2-3 sets of armor. And that's usually Warrior(?).

I'm sure as hell not going to spend more money on a complete armor wardrobe.

My Necro needs 4 different things ... and all 4 are Scar Patterns

well I certainly DO like the material storage better than just having them in my storage. I like specialized storage, better organisation is much needed :P

Eh, speciallized storage is easier to code and saves more server space. Much easier to type "red dye slot, quanity 4" then to have to program "random slot, item sephis axe, quanity 1, req 11, non dyed, axe mastery mod +19%, furious mod 10%, 15^50"
With speciallized storage, all the server needs to hold is the numberical number 4 (which is compressed with all the other storage numbers too probably). With actual storage you have all that other stuff to store.

Yes.

What we need is more INVENTORY SPACE so that we can actually carry all that new stuff we get with each campaign, and can use the new character slots for play characters instead of mules.

40 slots per bag (all 3 of them) and 40 slots per campaign for your xunlai storage would be a start. The current situation is just absurd.

/signed for General Storage

As implied above, armor storage is silly, since you don't need 6 sets of armor and with the insignia system, all you need is 1 set.
Weapon storage is not helpful either, since A, customized weapons are usable by that character and it's heros; B, casters would only need at most 1 set per attribute, which in wand/focus, 8 slots (6 since 2 is always equipped); and C, if you're collecting weapons, you know what you're getting into, and mule accounts are somewhat easy to obtain.
Dye storage (at its current state) is less important than material storage. Why? Both items can stack to 250, and there's only 11 dye colors, but there's 40(?) material types. If they release significantly more dye colors (which imo there's no point to either), then maybe dye storage is worth it.
And finally, keys. Keys stack, and there's ~12 key types which count as high-level for title progression. Like the dye storage, you can survive without it.

I have a friend who literally must have every set of armor in the game for her Elementalist and Mesmer, and then the majority of armor sets for her other characters. She does not rest until her collection is complete, and then she starts saving for the next Chapter. There are many more like her, that buy armor simply for the fashion. There are also those that buy multiple armor sets for functionality, though they may have the same skin multiple times over.

Some people just don't have enough room for all of that armor.

I've started stashing shields and focus items on my heroes that aren't using them..

But yes, I'd prefer to see a more general expanded storage (though material storage has been really useful) . Maybe a 'rune of superior holding' that will expand a bag / vault to an extra 20 slots. I have no issue with forking out a couple of plat for that in-game.

I have a 'mule' character just to hold the sword collection I have. (Trying to get 1 of each sword skin. I'm at around 25.). I wouldn't ask for storage specially for this.

General storage increases would be best, though I'd be happy with the ability to carry unlimited quest items on any character. (These commendations/totems/etc are getting out of control already.)

ID and salvavge 'kits' could be replaced by a generic thing in per account that you just buy to charge up from your storage and each character has a button on his inventory screen to use one unit from it.

I would simply like something done about Trophies. I have a tendancy to collect hordes of them, just in case I find a collector with something I'd like, or someone is offering to purchase something in the Trade channel. There are many different types of Trophies, and only so much inventory space. Granted, this is certainly not on the level of Materials, but a trophy storage of some sort *would* be nice.

i gotta disagree with you on that one.

my ranger has 6 armor sets. all my other toons (6 in total) have 2-3 sets each. why? i like changing the way they look and use the diffrent stats for diffrent builds and locations. not to mention all the events hats and the head gears (1 per atribute, so that makes 4-5 per character)

ya you could tell me "you dont need all those" but gues what? yes i do need them!

however, im not askinng for a warderobe, but it would be nice to have a storage for all custumised items (armors and weapons). since we all have them we might as well have somewhere separate to store them. this might also keep them away from the evil merchant (even tho after the upgrade hes not as grabby as before )

We all seem to agree that more storage is needed over all. (alot more for the armor collecters) Speaking of which who are you to judge what other people collect and do or not need? my sin has only 2 sets of armor but i use them according to build. i am also collecting green daggers, do i need them? no not at all, i do how ever want them. Not your place to tell me or anyone else other wise. As far as the specialized storage, dye, keys, runes, sigils etc. why not? its fairly easy to code i would think, and it makes things more ordered and easier to manage. I dont keep runes and such because they take up to much room, but if i wanted to make new armors and use them for certain builds it would be nice to have them on hand. So it comes down to what people want and what makes them happy.

Dyes I agree on, not enough type for separate storage, but armor? Yes, armor storage is needed. Only 2-3 sets you say? Because of insignias? Only if you have Nighfall, and what of those of us that dont? Ive seen some people today(started a mule) in Pre who just started the game within the past week or so. Im not done with Prophecies yet, I have 2 more characters to run through. My poor ele gets alot of heat from my other characters, because she needs 4 sets of armor(air, earth, fire, and water) and 8 wands. 1 max damage, 1 +15 energy, for the 4 different elements. Thats all the Xunlai, plus 8/45 character slots. -3 more for ID, salvage, and expert salvage, leaves 34 slots on 1 character. Ive only gotten about 3-4 "perfect" weapons, so I need to keep others till I find better, which uses up slots on other characters. We need more storage.

Would it be unfair to suggest that characters with a particular title get an extra tab in the storage. This would encourage more grind in PvE and reward those grinders!

Yes more grind!

Please stop asking to make even more grind and titles affect the game even more.

Ah, but if you're carrying dyes, those specialised slots effectively become multipurpose slots - because they free up the slots the dyes were taking. And as has been pointed out, specialised slots take up less server space than multipurpose ones, so we're probably more likely to get them...
